New England Championship Qualifiers Selection
Indoor season - athletes will qualify during VT Indoor State Championship meet held in Norwich University on Saturday, February 9, 2008.
Outdoor Season - athletes will qualify during New England qualifier meet held in Essex HS on Saturday, May 31, 2008.
1. Top 6 individual athletes and relays from events finals qualify for New England TF Championship.
2. Qualified athletes and relay teams will be automatically entered by a meet administrator. No declaration of participation is necessary.
3. There are no substitutions or alternates for qualified athletes or relays.
4. Regarding ties in weight events or LJ – TJ, the 2nd best jump, throw would be used (3rd if tie remains after 2nd) Regarding ties in PV – HJ, the number of misses would be used according the rule book. Regarding ties in 100 m Dash, 200 m Dash and 100/110 m Hurdles the time from preliminary heats will be used. Regarding ties in 300 m Hurdles, 400 m Dash, middle distance and distance.
5. To convert times from 1500 m run to 1600 m run 18 sec. will be added. To convert times from 3000 m run to 3200 m run 38 sec. will be added.
6. If NE Outdoor Qualifier meet is cancelled for weather or other reasons VT State Meets will be NE Qualifier. Top 6 individual athletes and relays from events finals qualify for New England T&F Championship regardless of Division.If a division does not use FAT at states or FAT is not working, those divisions and or runs without FAT will round up to the nearest highest tenth than add .24 sec.
7. State Meet Entry Marks may be used if an event was postponed or cancelled during the State Championship meet.
Competing states are Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine and Vermont.
