Abi Sessions Named Principal Of Sustainability Academy

Abi Sessions has been named Principal of the Sustainability Academy at Lawrence Barnes by the Burlington school commissioners. Abi will start on July 1st.
Superintendent Collins is enthusiastic about Abi's experience in Vermont schools and long-time commitment to sustainability. "Abi has the right combination of talent and knowledge to lead our Sustainability Academy. Abi's passion for sustainability and educational leadership will help us to build on our incredible teacher and community partnerships."
Abi is currently principal at Roxbury Elementary and previously was principal for 6 years at Salisbury Community School in Addison Central Supervisory Union. Abi brings twenty-plus years' experience in Vermont classrooms, seven years in public school leadership, eight years as a School Board member, and three years of consulting with teachers and principals to improve teaching and learning.
Abi shared that "she is aware that Lawrence Barnes School has a reputation for strong community engagement and a skillful and committed staff, and is committed to continuing those traditions." She is excited to be joining a school community that is committed to weaving the concepts and practices of sustainability "the shared responsibility for improving the quality of life for all, economically, socially and environmentally, now and for future generations" into its curriculum, its environment, and its day to day practice.
