Welcome to the Burlington School District's
PASS Project!

The Underlying Philosophy
The Burlington School District has adopted a two-year goal of providing a continuum of services that will allow all students to grow and succeed.  Funding from the Safe Schools / Healthy Students initiative has made this possible.  Locally we call this project PASS.

PASS Development
The PASS Project was created based on input from teachers, administrators, parents, students and community partners.  PASS vision builds on successful programs already in the District including truancy prevention (District-wide), the School-Based Health Centers (Barnes & Wheeler Elementary Schools) and others.

After PASS
Half of the funds for the PASS Project are focused on professional development, skill building and other investments that do not require ongoing funding.  Instead, programs will be available to increase the skills of students, staff and parents.

The School District and its partners are working on a plan to sustain some of the positions that were initially funded through the grant without increasing local spending.  Over the next three years, the District hopes to better serve high-needs students and therefore reduce its costs.
