Burlington High School conducts the Summer School Program from June 25, 2008 through August 6, 2008. Courses meet two hours each day during the six week program.

Who We Are

We believe that our Summer School Program course offerings are of the highest quality, and will afford all students the opportunity to gain valuable academic skills in any particular area. Our instructors are certified educational professionals who are well qualified to teach in their particular course or program.

The Summer School Program is comprehensive, academically oriented and conducted in a traditional highly structured setting for students in grades SEVEN through TWELVE. We are committed to being available to parents and students at all times to provide support and assistance with their educational program.

The Summer School Program provides the opportunity for high school students as well as adults, in the local community, to continue the process of education through the summer months, either for high school diploma requirements or job skill attainment. All students may acquire credits to apply towards a high school diploma or they may enroll in job related classes to develop specific entry level job skills.

The Library will be open, for Summer School students, Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Grades and credits will not be released until all library books and materials are returned.

The Summer School Program offers many courses in all disciplines that include English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Computers and Physical Education.

The Burlington High School RECOMMENDS one diploma credit for successful completion of each course. It will be up to the student's home school's Principal or Guidance Department to either accept or reject these credits. Prior approval, from the student's guidance counselor, MUST be obtained. Courses are accelerated; students should anticipate two hours of homework for each two hours in class.

ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE A FULL COURSE FOR FULL CREDIT.

PARTIAL CREDITS WILL NOT BE AWARDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

Attendance: No more than SIX (6) hours absence is allowed if ONE credit is expected for any SIXTY(60) hour course. Credit will be DENIED to students who exceed these maximum allowable absences. Homework and other outside study and work should be anticipated!

Book Cost: Textbooks for most courses, which earn High School Credits, are furnished for use to students by the Summer School Office. No course grades or credits will be released until ALL books and materials are returned. Lost or damaged books must be replaced by the student at actual cost. This includes Library books and materials.

NOTE: Books for Basic Math, American Government and Law, and United States History MUST be purchased by the student.
