While reading Flipped it goes back and forth through the characters.  On one chapter it’s about Bryce’s view of things.  Then the next chapter it’s about Julianna’s perspective of things.  So when it’s Bryce talking you feel really bad for him and mad at Julianna and when the chapter is about Julianna you feel really bad for her and are mad at Bryce.  I really like that style of writing.

I can’t believe that the whole time Julianna was delivering eggs to him he would quickly snatch them from her then run to the kitchen and throw them away.  Why does he do that?  It’s because Bryce’s family was afraid that there was salmonella in them because Julianna’s yard was such a mess.  When Julianna told her family they were surprised.

Her dad said, “Oh, that’s ridiculous.”  Now Julianna is spending most of her time trying to make her yard look nice and she is avoiding Bryce.

Then Bryce’s grandfather comes to help her.  She gets really mad at him because she feels that he came to help her because he felt bad about the eggs.  Actually he came over because she reminded him of his wife.  Hopefully her yard turns out really nice and beautiful.

I wonder what’s going to happen next.

"Overboard"

 By Elizabeth Fama

Poor Emily is trying to survive and then this old lady has to just come into the story and start drowning her.  Emily tries to help her swim and stay afloat but the lady tries so many times and she can't swim.  She just lets herself drown.

I once saw this movie once called Poseidon and its story problem is somewhat similar to this story's problem.  It's about a these people who are on a cruise ship for the Fourth of July and this huge wave comes and knocks the ship over and the whole movie is the people trying to find an exit but have to go through lots of tough challenges with some companions that have to die along the way and never get to make it.  Whenever I pick up this book I think of the movie, Poseidon, because the characters and the story plot just have so much in common.

I think Emily is a very brave and strong girl to face and survive many challenges.  For example, when she was still on board and she got locked up in a locker and the locker started filling up with lots of water.  She was kicking and pushing trying to free herself.  It took her a couple of minutes to get herself out but thankfully she didn't get hurt trying to escape.  Another time was when the old lady started to drown Emily.  Emily thought it might be a shark and she would die but a few seconds later she realized that it was hands around her foot that where pulling her down.  Emily was trying to be helpful to the lady but the lady didn't give Emily much time to save her and the old lady wouldn't accept the fact that Emily could actually save her.  I am unfortunately left in suspense for next time and can't wait to read what’s going to happens next.
