Skiing On The Slope
By Johannah
Her legs were trembling as she approached the top of the mountain from her seat on the chairlift. The mountain looked like a roller- coaster waiting for her to jump on and enjoy the ride. She didn’t want to go on the ride; it looked scary, really scary! The white, fluffy, snow was whipped cream on top of a chocolate sundae. ‘Yummy!’ she thought. She stepped backwards in case the whipped cream made her come closer, and then it pushed her down the mountain and she got broken in half. “Ughhhh….” How could she think those odd thoughts! ‘ Come closer’ the whipped cream was saying. ‘ My whipped cream is luxurious, definitely with the delicious chocolate sundae!’ ‘No, I won’t!’ she thought, but for some reason she took a step closer and closer and closer until… “Aghhhh…!” She was flying! The fluffy snow did feel like whipped cream under her skis! She passed the chairlift. People looked down from their seats to see her flying through the sky. All of a sudden words scurried through her head: ‘Weird’, ‘What is she doing?’, ‘Oh my gosh!’, ‘She’s going to kill herself!’ She looked up; people on the chairlift were moving their lips to those exact words, while at the same time looking straight at her! They were saying those mean things about her! ‘Was she doing something wrong?’ she asked herself.
Then ‘CRASH!’ She slipped on some smooth, cold ice. She landed right in the fluffy snow just barely missing landing on the ice. ‘Phew,’ she thought as she wiped sweat off her forehead, ‘That was a close one!’ She took her skis off and stood up. She shook the snow off herself like a dog shaking rain off his fur. She felt cold and embarrassed. People were staring at her, amazed. ‘Stop it!’ she thought ‘Get a life!’ ‘Maybe I’ll try to ski under control this time,’ she told herself as she popped her skis back on. She picked up her ski poles and started skiing down the steep hill. She zigzagged back and forth like everybody else was doing and it seemed to keep her under control. As she got closer to the end of the trail she could smell the fantastic smell of Hot Chocolate and she could just taste it on her tongue this very second. People flew by her going crazy ‘Weirdos,’ she thought. ‘They’ll learn.’
Then out of nowhere
came the end of the ski trail. She stopped slowly like she had seen other
people do on TV. ‘Yes!’ She thought. ‘I did it!’ She raised her arms
high like she had just come in first in a marathon. ‘I think I’ll stick to
the easy hills from now on!’ she giggled to herself. She took off her skis.
Then she went into the restaurant to get a cup of delicious Hot Chocolate with
whipped cream. How could she resist that?
‘I did it!’ she said to
herself one more time, ‘I really did!’ Then she ordered her Hot Chocolate.
