The Bad Dream

     It’s as though I woke up from a bad dream.  I was the only character.  I felt I lived on another planet, cloned like Earth in a far away galaxy.  All around was chaos!  Meteors were slamming our planet.

      People were fleeing and screaming through the hot, molten fire.

     Rivers were flooding like gushing waters running down the mountain!

       Trees had disappeared.

     Glaciers had melted!

      Was this the start of global warming or was it all over?

      I rubbed my eyes, stretched and could hardly believe what I saw.  I looked out my window and noticed the dream was really happening.  The skies were grey and streaked with orange ribbons.  I thought Mom and Dad were extinct.  I was so worried and confused that I ran down the stairs to find them.

     Frantically, I looked all over the house.  Suddenly, an aroma was whirling around as I approached the kitchen.   I smelled bacon cooking.  I ran into the room and there was Mom cooking two long strips of bacon just for me and placing them on a blue and white platter, along with fluffy pancakes topped with Vermont maple syrup!  I was so relieved and happy to see her. I could hardly hold back the tears.

     This was the start of a whole new world OR was it the end?
